And speaking of cool new companies, Finds’ friend, Aimee sent me a cool profile of a local (Chicago) company, Trundle.  They are trying to win up to $50,000 in Guaranteed Rate’s “Ultimate Neighborhood Give Back Challenge” to Give Away $100,000 for Community Improvement Projects. Aimee says:

“When my friends start their own company, no one cheers louder than me!  I think running your own startup is one of the most exciting, humbling and rewarding experiences you can have in you work life. So I want to offer support wherever I can.

My good friend Maris, and her co-founder Kristen, just launched an amazing company called Trundle. For those of us lucky enough to grow up in a home with our own room that was safe, comfortable and reflected our individuality its hard to imagine a world that is different. Trundle believes that every child should have a space that “speaks to them and for them,” so they collaborate with kids who need assistance in conceiving original space.  By participating in the design process, and applying things as easy as a fresh coat of paint, or as robust as a full room makeover, kids prove to themselves that they can begin to change the space and world in which they live.

Trundle is competing for up to $50,000 in Guaranteed Rate’s “Ultimate Neighborhood Give Back Challenge”  for Community Improvement Projects. While I might be a little biased, I think that what makes Trundle so amazing, is that they do not offer charity or a handout; Maris and her co-founder instead give kids who might not have control over the financial or social circumstances around them – the opportunity to impact their own space in a very meaningful way. Trundle.me is ultimate “teach a kid to fish” mentality, and her company could do so much good with that type of startup capital!”

So – if you are on Facebook and have a minute please vote for Trundle!!
