Friday Finds: ‘Appy St Patrick’s Day, Seriously? & Great Deals

icons313It was another busy week and I was trying to figure out when I would find some fun stuff for Friday when an idea magically appeared from Lindsay at Launch Squad. She liked my blurb on Cleverbug and wrote to suggest a St Patrick’s Day post highlighting this and other cool apps that hail from Ireland. I love this idea (and the cool apps she recommended, too!)

The super helpful, and fun Irish apps that Lindsay suggested vary a bunch. They let you send birthday cards from your iPhone to anywhere in the world, find out what constellations you’re looking at wherever you are, let you share baby and family stuff with the people YOU choose and make sure you don’t forget important dates.

Check them out:
> Cleverbug lets you send personalized, printed greeting cards anywhere in the world from your iPhone. Read my post on this app HERE.
mzl.mbauaibr.320x480-75> Pocket Universe turns your iPhone into a mini planetarium to help you to learn constellations, bright stars and planets. ($2.99 iOs)
mzl.juymgrjw.320x480-75> Tweekaboo enables parents, or parents to be to, use their iPhones to record and privately share pregnancy and baby moments with select people. (Free. iOs)
the man app> The Man App lets men (or women) input a partner’s important dates and milestones and will inform them, with advance warning, of all impending occasions. They’ll never miss another anniversary, birthday or vday. Pretty funny and it could be $.99 well spent – at least for the aggravation or make up time/gifts – no? Don’t think this matters? Check out the survey they did! Could be the best $1 investment you ever make!!

Consider this the Erica Finds’ St. Patty’s Day celebration. I am running the NYC Half on Sunday and will not be partaking in the usual St. Patty’s festivities! Have fun and be safe all!Screen Shot 2013-01-16 at 8.28.49 PMI have been stoked to write about finding some cool “curated” boxes of snacks, new food products, eco-friendly goods, health and beauty products, cool girly stuff and more. It is fun to get these boxes and it feels like a mini Christmas stocking and you get to try new things. Yeah – awesome.

I am pretty sure that this concept is now over saturated and has “jumped the shark.” How do I know? Well for one thing there is a website with reviews of a TON of these (Check out her coupon page!). But what led me to the “enough is enough” conclusion is that I was dumbfounded when I saw this article about “Le Parcel” in one of my women’s magazines.photo-40Then, I googled it. And there are at least 4 “women’s monthly visitor” care boxes. SERIOUSLY?! In my opinion the world does not even need one. What do you think!?Screen Shot 2013-01-16 at 8.28.49 PMSince Lindsay did the thinking for me today, I had some more time to find cool deals!
