“Pandora for Art”, Q for Fitness & Deals!

My husband and I are the fortunate beneficiaries of his parents’ good taste. When they were younger, they invested in some up and coming artists. We now have some awesome art work that we love and that has both monetary and sentimental value.

artbarcsPure Wow Chicago featured a cool new curated website yesterday that helps people match their tastes to the painting and prints of up and coming artists. The new website is run by husband-and-wife entrepreneurs Russ Rosenzweig and Lucy Liu. They hosted an artists’ residency program and regularly introduced friends to up-and-coming painters inspired them to bring the art to an even larger audience.

ArtBarcs is like Good Reads or Spotify for art. It works like one of these sites, but for paintings: Sign up for ArtBarcs and click the red hearts over artworks you like, then see suggestions in a similar style. You can also hide art that you don’t like. They have over 700 artists from around the world on the site and prices start at less than $1,000. Limited-edition prints are sometimes available for as little as $250.

If you’re not already a collector, this site is a way to explore what you like and maybe even start a collection. How cool is that?Screen Shot 2013-01-16 at 8.28.49 PM When I lived in New York, I was a member of Equinox Gym (which I LOVED). As an alumni, I get lots of newsletters and solicitations from them.

I recently checked out their online web magazine called Q and I think you should, too. Q is Equinox’s editorial site “that was created to change the conversation on fitness and wellness by presenting it in an elevated way. To [them], the body is the ultimate investment. [They] believe it takes equal parts inspiration and information to get you to commit—and that’s what Q provides.” (A little high minded, but the content is awesome!)

The site has celebrity playlists, recipes, workouts, videos and much much more. I loved the articles in the Nutrition section like: The Death of Wheat? 5 Hydration Myths Debunked, The Sleep-Better Diet, Should You Eat Potatoes? The First Rule of Eating, 12 Rules of Eating and Fine Dining Gets Healthy. Check out these and more HERE!
