Friday Finds: More “Pinning”, Rock the Race w/Meb & More!

I have been extremely neglectful of my Pinterest boards. Don’t get me wrong, I dig Pinterest. There are just so many competing priorities for me and as I collect links and ideas for this blog, I usually neglect to “pin” them.

Just this week, I came across two new “pinning” sites. One is for books and reading lists and one is for recipes. I already have Goodreads for social networking around books and I pretty much never cook, but I still felt compelled to check out these sites.

> Storyboard on SmallDemons.com – The website Small Demons seeks to catalog and link every allusion inside every book. It is a wiki for books (pretty awesome!) Their newest feature, is Storyboard. Storyboard allows users to create Pinterest-like boards for any book-related topics, and then share those collections via social media or the Small Demons website.

> Punchfork – Punchfork makes it easier to find the best new recipes from popular sites like Simply Recipes, The Pioneer Woman, Leite’s Culinaria, Bon Appetit, 101 Cookbooks and Picky Palate. They use conversations on social networks to show you high quality recipes that passionate cooks are talking about right now. Punchfork uses social data like tweets, Facebook shares and Pinterest pins to measure which recipes are grabbing the attention of users. They have a user rating system and show real time recipes as they are being posted and shared.

So what do you think? Do you have room in your life for Pinterest? New Pinning sites? I love reading but am negligent of my Goodreads list. I don’t think I will be adding these to my lists, but may check in from time to time…how about you?

Another shameless excuse to show my photo with Meb!
Who is your favorite runner? Everyone knows mine is Meb Keflezighi. So, I am entering the Rock the Race with Meb contest from Sony. I would LOVE to win training for a day with Meb and a stay California for three nights. The other big prizes are also awesome: 5 nights in Austin and 2 passes to one of the largest music festivals in the world – South by Southwest OR you and a friend can enjoy the full rock royalty treatment at a Rock ‘N’ Roll marathon® event in 2013.

Sounds pretty awesome right? The great news is that it’s so easy to enter to win this virtual running game! Just go to the Rock the Race with Meb website and connect with your Facebook account. Accept the Rock the Race with Meb application and you’re automatically entered to win one of the three grand prize packages. Share with your friends (and they share with their friends and then you will be entered additional times and qualify for bonus prizes. As I always say, you have to be in it to win it!
