February ’26 Runfessions

It’s the last Friday of the month, so it’s time to join Marcia for “Runfessions!” Runfessions are running truths or “where runners bare their souls and soles.” We had a schizophrenic weather month here and I did a bunch of running in all kinds of gear. Here’s my February 2026 Runfessions.

I runfess… it’s pretty wild that this weekend last February I was in Tokyo getting ready to run the Tokyo Marathon. I’m enjoying the posts that are I’m seeing from there. I have some FOMO – mostly for Japan and the wonderful experience I had with my friends. TBH, I’d kind of like a do over on a slightly cooler day (which seems to be in the cards for my friends this year.)

I runfess… I was surprised to have three running tours this month. February is usually quiet for obvious (weather related) reasons in Chicago. I ran with Marjolein from Holland on February 9 (23 degrees and sunny), Eileen from Scotland on February 19 (50 degrees and sunny) and Maureen from San Francisco on February 20 (35 degrees and 29 mph wind). We did the same route for all three (Bucket List 10K) and all were really great. I love Chicago in winter – don’t believe me? Join me for a run.

Random 60 degree Feb day!

I runfess… It’s been strange for me not to be training for a spring marathon after doing Grandma’s (2022), Boston (2023), London (2024) and Tokyo (2025). That said, I after taking a bit of a break, I’m starting to enjoy my running more again. And, I’m back to 35 – 40 miles per week with friends. So, fingers crossed that I’ll have some mojo back when I return to racing in March for the Shamrock Shuffle and the Love Run.

I runfess… I went on a bit of a shoe buying binge. I am LOVING my new Saucony Endorphin Azura training shoes (which I bought because my all time favorite Saucony’s from the early 2000s were called Grid Azura) and the new Saucony Endorphin Pro 5s are so pretty (and feel like they’ll be a nice ride for races.) Since I love my NYC Keith Haring Endorphin Speed 5s, I got this Tokyo edition, too.

I runfess… I’m getting excited to do some races! Shamrock Shuffle (8K) is always a ton of fun and you absolutely never know what weather you’ll get and I haven’t run a race in Philly in over 20 years (we lived there in 2000 – 2002 when The Husband was in business school). I have some fun memories of running there. Are you doing any spring races?

Do you have any Runfessions? Please leave them in the comments.

I’m linking up with DarleneMichelleRenee and Jenn for Fit Five Friday. Join us!

Have a great weekend! I hope the temps by you are how you like them!
