December ’25 Runfessions

It’s the last Friday of the month, so it’s time to join Marcia for “Runfessions!” Runfessions are running truths or “where runners bare their souls and soles.” I can’t believe 2025 is finally coming to a close. It’s been a LONG year. It’s been another big year in running for me, so here are my final runfessions of 2025.

I runfess… This was my toughest year in running in a long time. I ran my three slowest marathons and many of my slowest times in every other distance. Besides the times, it just felt HARD in every season and every location. So, I ended my streak (after 5 years and 2 days in February) and am trying to get back into cross training more and I’m taking a real break through February. Fingers crossed that I can get my mojo back (and if not my mojo, then at least my joy for running.) Don’t worry, there were many fun miles and experiences, too.

I runfess… I am so happy that I finished the Abbott World Marathon Majors (6 star version) in Tokyo this year. I know that they’ve added Sydney and will likely add Capetown, but for now, I’m calling this one complete for me. It’s a bit insane to keep up with the competitiveness to get in, the travel and costs of this series when there are so many other places in the world I’d love to run. Valencia and Copenhagen are on the top of my international running wish list.

I runfess… I did sign up for a next marathon – Bayshore in Traverse City, Michigan. Nicole and I were talking about her running it or Mountains2Beach. She decided on M2B and I decided to do the half and to cheer for her in the full. I signed up for the full in Bayshore but will go down to the half if I don’t feel revived after my winter break and cross training.

New singlet in NYC and Chicago

I runfess… I was sad to retire my WMM singlet after Tokyo. It had a VERY good run. I almost resuscitated it for Chicago and NYC but wore my CARA Racing Team singlet and it was easy to spot, flattering and nice in photos. That was lucky!

I runfess… I may have bought a bunch of running shoes to try on Black Friday sales. I may buy more after Christmas, too. I am proud to tell you that I didn’t buy ANY running clothes on sale. I need running clothes like I need a hole in the head. LOL.

I’m linking up with DarleneMichelleRenee and Jenn for Fit Five Friday. Join us!

Wishing everyone a happy, healthy and joyous new year filled with miles and smiles.

Have a great weekend!
