5 Things I’d Tell You Over Coffee This October ’25

It’s the first weekend of the month, so I‘m linking up with Coco and Deborah for the Ultimate Coffee Date. It’s still feeling like summer here and all of the runners’ fingers are crossed that we’ll have cooler weather for the marathon a week from Sunday. Plus the leaves want to change and who doesn’t love sweater weather?

What is the Ultimate Coffee Date? Imagine we are having coffee together… this post is what I would tell you. So grab a cup, “listen” and then tell me what is going on with you in the comments, please!

If we were having coffee… I’d ask if you were a Pumpkin Spice Latte fan? I’m not but I like pumpkin spice flavored things – especially cookies. I tried these Pumpkin Chai Spice Mini Cookies from Sweet Logic dipped in my coffee (with Vanilla Soy Milk) and that was the perfect PSL hack for me. Eight cookies have only 100 calories and 3g of sugar. Find them on Amazon!

If we were having coffee… I’d ask what you’re reading. I’m reading Olga Dies Dreaming by Xochitl Gonzalez. It’s the Chicago Public Library’s One Book, One Chicago read. So I was surprised to find that it is set in NYC. I love both cities and am really enjoying the book so far. I just finished Elizabeth Gilbert’s new memoir All the Way to the River. I got it from the library and listened on the Libby app. TBH I found it pretty tedious and kind of overblown. It’s getting good reviews so I’m interested in what others think about it.

Runner briefing at last year’s Chicago Marathon shakeout

If we were having coffee… I’d also tell you that I’m excited for the Chicago Marathon. I’m leading a shakeout run again with Arc’teryx Chicago (RSVP here to join us). I’m doing a run tour and volunteering on Thursday and going to some events on Friday, too. I’d ask if you’re running or spectating here this year.

If we were having coffee… I’d tell you that after the Chicago Marathon events I’m volunteering again at Open House Chicago and finalizing plans for The Husband’s 51st birthday celebration (his annual party has returned – yay! (And then I have to get ready for NYC Marathon…) One day at a time – right? I’d ask what’s keeping you busy this month!

Seen on my run this morning.

If we were having coffee… I’d tell you that our extended summer has made the parks here even more beautiful. I’ve also been walking more, so I’ve been taking tons of photos out in the parks. I’d ask what it’s looking at by you.

If we were having coffee… I’d ask “what’s happening by you?” Please tell me in the comments!

I’m linking up with DarleneMichelleReneeJenn and Zenaida, for Fit Five Friday. Join us!
