It’s the last Friday of the month, so it’s time to join Marcia for “Runfessions!” Runfessions are running truths or “where runners bare their souls and soles.” How is it almost August?! July has been HUMID in Chicago, but a few getaways helped my running some.
I runfess… I did pretty well with the heat and humidity until last weekend when the 10 mile run for a cutback week nearly ended me. I am trying not to get discouraged and trying to be kind to myself, but I’m worried about my fall races. Since winning or running personal bests is not in the cards, I should remember that it’s supposed to be fun. I tell everyone else this, but it’s time to practice what I preach. Right!?

I runfess… I’m proud to say that I ran a 5k on July 4th at 8,000 feet of elevation and lived to tell about it. I was proud to finish in sub-9 minute miles which was not a given. I had fun, too!

I runfess… I had fun trying out the new 361 Sport Flame 4 running shoes with a carbon-fiber plate for rolling propulsion and support. The shoes are lightweight, springy and nicely cushioned for long-distance running activities and faster recovery. Check out my review (and the fun places I wore them here.)

I runfess… I did some trail running in Buena Vista, CO and Bend, OR this month. I run trails like a granny because of hills, altitude and obstacles, but I have to say, it’s fun. Sometimes, it’s nice to just be in nature. I am paranoid about seeing bears, cougars and mountain lions. Luckily, I didn’t see any in my July adventures. Are you a road or a trails person?
I runfess… I’m excited to try Rev Gum’s electrolyte gum’s new formula! They just got in touch to send some over. You know I’ll share! (Find it on Amazon.)
Do you have any Runfessions? Please leave them in the comments.
I’m linking up with Darlene, Michelle, Jenn and Zenaida for Fit Five Friday. Join us!
Have a great weekend!
