It’s the last Friday of the month, so it’s time to join Marcia for “Runfessions!” Runfessions are running truths or “where runners bare their souls and soles.” March was a pretty epic (and humbling) month for me in running so let’s go!

I runfess… I’m still licking my wounds from the Tokyo Marathon. On the upside, I had a wonderful trip to Japan (see my reels from Kyoto, Tokyo Run Tour and Tokyo). And, I got my 6 star medal for Abbott World Marathon majors after “only” 18 years. The race itself was grueling for me- hot, quiet and crowded. You can read my full race recap here. I’m still very happy that I went and that I ran, but it was not a run I’d like to repeat.

I runfess… I loved running over the Brooklyn Bridge in the NYC Half this year. It was the first New York Road Runners race ever to run over the Brooklyn Bridge. That was cool. The weather was foggy and damp and there was a lot of uphill. Needless to say – another tough run for me. I loved catching up with Sue, Carly and Marie and all of my friends from Alexandra’s Playground. I raised over $1600. You can still support our team here.

I runfess… I was super worried about running the Shamrock Shuffle 8K last weekend. Even though I quit my streak and have been resting more, I didn’t want to feel like my batteries were dead. I set a realistic goal and ran with Jen and we had a blast! The vibes were very high and our CARA Masters Women’s Team won the recreational women’s division for the second year in a row. Yay!

I runfess… We had an epic crowd for our shakeout run at Arc’teryx with Gold Coast Run Club and Latinas Run Chicago. I also had a ton of fun volunteering at packet pick up and at the race. The weekend reminded me why I love running and the Chicago running community!
I runfess… I’m not planning to do any races in April this year and maybe May. I’m going to try to recharge my batteries so that I can have some good races in the second half of the year. I know some people doubt I’ll do this but I’m pretty committed to taking a break!
Do you have any Runfessions? Please leave them in the comments.
I’m linking up with Darlene, Michelle, Renee, Jenn and Zenaida for Fit Five Friday. Join us!
Have a great weekend!
