Runfessions – Tokyo Marathon Edition!

It’s the last Friday of the month, so it’s time to join Marcia for “Runfessions!” Runfessions are running truths or “where runners bare their souls and soles.” I’m in Tokyo for the Marathon on March I have some Tokyo Runfessions.

I runfess… I did a great running tour in Tokyo with Ihor from Go Running Tours. We are staying in the busiest area of Tokyo (Shinjuku) which is overwhelming. Luckily, Ihor showed my that a few blocks from our hotel it was lovely for running. We ran to Shibuya Crossing (the busiest crossing in the world) but it was early so it was hard to tell.

I runfess… We went to the Tokyo Marathon Expo and were totally underwhelmed by it until we realized that there was a whole floor of expo downstairs. Grabbed my number and tried some Pocari Sweat and some sweet bean jelly.

I runfess… We missed the cherry blossoms in Kyoto (but also the crowds so that was good). We did see some plum blossoms in Yoyogi Park which was really cool.

I runfess… My “flat Erica” is ready! I’m planning to retire this singlet after tomorrow for my final Abbott World Marathon Major race (of the original six). I’m going to miss it but it’s the end of an era ;). I’m getting excited for the race tomorrow.

I runfess… I ended my run streak! I made it 5 years and 2 days and as I had planned skipped my run on February 23rd when I arrived in Japan. We made it to Kyoto by 7:00 PM so I could have run but I enjoyed a light meal with Kathy and called it done. And you know what? I’m good! I have run every day since but plan to take rest days like a normal person from here on out!

Do you have any Runfessions? Please leave them in the comments.

I’m linking up with DarleneMichelleReneeJenn and Zenaida for Fit Five Friday. Join us!

Have a great weekend!
