It’s the last Friday of the month, so it’s time to join Marcia for “Runfessions!” Runfessions are running truths or “where runners bare their souls and soles.” Well, so far 2025 has been a doozy. Thank goodness for running. Here’s my 2025 Runfessions.
I runfess… I’m feeling burned out. I’m excited to run Tokyo on March 2 to finish my Abbott World Marathon Majors 6 star quest. I’m also excited to go back to NYC to run the NYC Half on March 16 after missing last year. [You can support my fundraiser for Alexandra’s Playground here.] But I’m tired and running is feeling like a chore. I’m going to try to be chill and do less races and then rest and refresh for the fall marathon season.

I runfess… I had a tough time at my first race of the year. We had some reasonably mild weather for the F3 half last weekend. It wasn’t as windy or cold as the previous week/weekend. In fact, I was pretty over heated by the end. I ran the first half with the 1:50 pace group but fell off half way and trudged my way to a 1:56 finish. In positive news, I caught up with my friend Allison who was the 1:50 pacer and Peter Sagal (the host of Wait, Wait, Don’t Tell Me on NPR) and other friends, so it was worth the pain!
I runfess… I was on the My First Marathon Podcast this month. I had a blast chatting with Taylor about my first marathon in 1996 (mistakes were made) and the many lessons I’ve learned since. Here’s a link to the episode if you want to listen.

I runfess… If you’ve been around here, you know I love running in winter. I have the gear and love the views. I posted a reel running in the snow and it said – POV: Winter running > than Summer running. I took a poll and asked who was with me. Well it wasn’t a washout, but it 55% of people prefer summer. How about you?
I runfess… I’m planning to call my run streak on February 20, 2025. That’s 5 years. While I’ve enjoyed it, I have some different running goals for this year, so I’m going to call it. That’s the plan! I may actually stop on February 22 when I leave for Tokyo (and not run when I arrive on the 23rd). I’ll keep you posted.
Do you have any Runfessions? Please leave them in the comments.
I’m linking up with Darlene, Michelle, Renee, Jenn and Zenaida for Fit Five Friday. Join us!
Wishing everyone a happy, healthy and joyous new year filled with miles and smiles.
Have a great weekend!
