2024 has been a pretty fun running year for me. I kept up my run streak and hit 4 years on February 20. I ran 4 marathons (all World Marathon Majors), 5 half marathons, a 10 miler, 2 8Ks, 2 10Ks, 6 5Ks, an indoor one hour race and a 1 mile race. I did run tours in Amsterdam and Munich. I led more than a dozen run tours in Chicago and a bunch of runs with A Sweat Life and Arc’teryx Chicago. I clocked just over 2,560 miles! Here’s to many more miles and smiles in 2025!
Here is my 2024 running year in review:
# of Miles Run – 2565. Average 7 miles/day and 49/week. This is up slightly from last year.
# of Races Run– 22 – that’s four more than last year. I ran 4 marathons, 5 half marathons, a 10 miler, 2 8Ks, 2 10Ks, 6 5Ks, an indoor one hour race and a 1 mile race.
# of Miles Run in Races –226.3. Believe it or not 6 less than last year!
# of Age Group Awards– 8. Up 6 from last year but a few were VERY low competition in my AG.
Run Streak – I continued my run streak (started 2/20/20) and am now at day 1,776.
Fun Race Destinations– Brooklyn, London, Berlin and NYC.
Coolest Non-Race Runs: – Quito, the Galapagos Islands, Amsterdam and Munich!
Best Race– Hidden Gem Half Marathon. I didn’t run particularly fast in any race this year but felt strong and happy in this half, ran my fastest half of the year and got to run the vast majority of it with Allison.
Worst Race– Chicago 13.1. I went with the 1:50 pace group and I just died from the humidity. I felt really discouraged, too. I’m still salty about how crowded it was in Berlin, but it was still a really cool race.
Personal Records (PRs)- 0. No surprises here.
Star Sightings: Meb at NYC Marathon Fleet Feet Run and Laura Green and Matt Centrowitz at the Chicago Marathon.
Number of Sidelining Injuries– 0! Despite 3 marathons in 5 weeks, I ran injury free this year.
Best Running Advice I Gave This Year: Start slow and finish strong and don’t forget to smile!
Best New Running Product(s) I Tried: RNWY Foundation and Extra Mile, Ja-Vie Compression, Socks, Chargel, Salt Stick Hydration, Janji Mini-Pass Bag, CRAFT shoes and gear and more! Go to giveaways or running to check out my reviews.

I have a bunch of races on the calendar for next year. I’m starting the year with the F3 Half Marathon in January. I’m heading to Tokyo for my 6th Abbott World Marathon Major star in March. I’m planning to complete the Chicago Distance Series again – Shamrock Shuffle 8K, Chicago 13.1 and Chicago Marathon. I hope to toe the line in my 25th NYC Marathon in November. That’s what I have so far, but I imagine there will be more!
How was your year in running?? Please tell me about it in the comments.
Here’s to a healthy, speedy and happy 2025 and beyond!
