I met the team from Vermont Smoke & Cure at Sweets & Snacks in 2017. I’ve been a big fan and have kept up with them through the years. They recently launched five new products and sent me a huge care package. I’m going to share some with a lucky reader.
Vermont Smoke & Cure got its start in 1962 in South Barre, Vermont. For the next 50 years, we operated in a farmhouse and then in the back of a gas station. In 2006, Chris Bailey, a farmer, chef and former US team cyclist took over and renamed the business Vermont Smoke & Cure. Chris brought a modern approach to recipes, processing techniques. They rebranded in 2015 and expanded product lines and were purchased by Johnsonville in 2020.
All products maintain Vermont Smoke & Cure’s commitment to quality. All meats are free from antibiotics and added hormones and contain no artificial colors, preservatives or flavors. The products are crafted in small batches, slow-cooked for over 18 hours, and smoked with real hardwood chips. They are also free from major allergens including gluten, milk, eggs, shellfish, tree nuts, peanuts and soy.
The new line of products shows a commitment to innovation. Their new turkey varieties fill a gap in the market and respond to consumer preferences for more diverse snacking options. The new products are:
- WhistlePig Maple Old Fashioned Meat Stick – This unique offering combines Vermont Smoke & Cure’s meat crafting expertise with WhistlePig’s renowned whiskey flavors, creating a cocktail-inspired snack experience. This exclusive, limited time only meat stick will be available in stores and online starting September 23, 2024 coinciding with National Snack Stick Day.
- Hickory Smoked Premium Beef Sticks – THE premier smoked beef stick for those who love beef forward flavors. The sticks are 100% beef and are made with the finest cuts of beef that are hand trimmed and ground to create a delicious, premium smoked beef stick.

We’re big fans of these meat sticks! I’ve been enjoying the Oven Roasted Seasoned sticks for a great afternoon snack and have stowed a bunch in my travel back pack.
