Friday Five: 5 Things I’m Loving About the Olympics!

It’s been a minute since I’ve posted things I’m “loving lately.” I started writing it and my first of five was the Olympics and especially the amazing sportsmanship and team love among women in particular. As I started writing, I realized that I had so many things I loved watching the Olympics, I’m dedicating a whole post to it!

5 Things I’m Loving About the Olympics

The JOY! Some of the best athletes in the world seem to have found joy in their sports again. The gymnasts are beaming, the track athletes and swimmers are doing the Apple dance and there jumpers are making angels in the sand. I am HERE for this. I have been watching these celebrations on repeat.

The Sportsmanship and Team Support – Simone Biles and Rebeca Andrade cheering for each other, Suni and Simone, Jordan and Simone bowing down for Rebeca, Sha’Carri and Julien Alfred, the US men’s gymnastics team (and the whole world loving Steve N.) and on and on. It makes me happy and gives me hope. I can’t get enough of it!

The Underdogs and Photo Finishes! I’m a track nerd and I’m still blown away by 23 year old Cole Hocker’s run from 4th to take gold in the 1500 meter race (and teammate Yared Nguse who got bronze and almost silver) over the two world champions! And then Quincy Hall in the 400 and Noah Lyles in the 100 (not underdogs but photo finishes). SO exciting!

The Scenery – I was blown away watching the triathlon and can’t wait to watch the marathon. Paris is beautiful and it’s putting on a great show for the world. Los Angeles is going to have to step it up!

Following Along with Our Friends’ Olympic Adventures and Side Trips – I had a bunch of friends who attended the Olympics. Most took side trips and went to places like Lyon, Sardinia, Croatia and Bosnia. It’s been so fun seeing their Olympic pics, videos and all of the other interesting places and things, too.

We’re thinking of volunteering for Los Angeles to get in on the action – who’s with us? Please tell me what you’re loving about the Olympics in the comments.

I’m linking up with DarleneMichelleReneeJenn and Zenaida, for Fit Five Friday. Join us!

Have a great weekend!
