It’s the last Friday of the month, so it’s time to join Marcia for “Runfessions!” Runfessions are running truths or “where runners bare their souls and soles.” It feels like we blinked and it’s nearly summer. I did took a nice running “break” (1.5 – 4 miles a day) for my 12 day vacation and that was pretty great!
I runfess… I really enjoyed running only a few miles per day in Ecuador and the Galapagos. The altitude kept me on my toes. It was 9000 ft in Quito and then I ran 1.25 miles at 13000 ft on a hike. Running in the Galapagos was so cool. I ran by sea lions, iguanas and tortoises and saw tons of amazing birds.
I runfess… I’m kind of regretting signing up to race a mile tomorrow night at the Puma Chi-Town Mile. I’m excited to watch all of the fast heats and to cheer on my friends. I have done a tiny bit of speed work this year which is more than I did before the race last year. I may be humbled, but I’m going to try to have fun (and not come in last in my heat!)
I runfess… I had a lot of fun doing two back to back 15K “just run” tours with Kristin from Charlotte this week. “Just run” is a guided run without tour stops. We did take a few photos and videos for Kristin to share with her kids at home. It was a great way to start the week.
I runfess… I tried to get a Tokyo Marathon number via a charity. I bid over the minimum and much more than some other charities required and was not accepted. Womp womp. I’m trying the next thing which is the One Tokyo Global program (basically a membership program that costs ~$200) before the general lottery. I hope that works! I’d love to get the 6 majors completed.
I runfess… It’s been pretty mild heat-wise since we got back, but I’m still bringing water and SaltStick on all of my runs. Once bitten, twice shy! If you missed my summer running must haves list, check them out here.
Do you have any Runfessions? Please leave them in the comments.
I’m linking up with Darlene, Michelle, Renee, Jenn and Zenaida for Fit Five Friday. Join us!
Have a great weekend!
