It’s the first weekend of the month, so I‘m linking up with Coco and Deborah for the Ultimate Coffee Date. January felt super long in Chicago because it was SO gray. I for one am happy to get the shortest month of the year underway. Let’s have a coffee!
What is the Ultimate Coffee Date? Imagine we are having coffee together… this post is what I would tell you. So grab a cup, “listen” and then tell me what is going on with you in the comments, please!
If we were having coffee… I’d tell you that I’m on my way to Palm Springs, CA for celebrate a Mary’s upcoming 40th. I might complain a bit about the forecast of showers on Sunday and rain on Monday. At least we’ll have sun today and tomorrow. I need some Vitamin D!
If we were having coffee… I’d ask if you’re going to watch the Olympic Trials marathon tomorrow. And if so, if you have any favorites. I was sad to see that Molly Seidel had to drop out. I hope that Sara Hall gets a top 3 spot. And I always love Des Linden. It would be fun to see Emily Sisson or Keira D’Amato in the top 3. And also Lindsey Flanagan who’s routinely in the top 10. Are you planning to watch?
If we were having coffee… I’d ask what you’re reading and watching and what your favorite books, movies and shows were last year. I’ve been enjoying reading some of people’s faves from 2023. For our Palm Springs trip, we read Good Night, Irene (historical fiction based on the “Donut Dollies” in WWII) and On Our Best Behavior (about how women conform to certain behaviors based on the 7 Deadly Sins.) Surprisingly, I loved Good Night, Irene and found On Our Best Behavior to be long and repetitive. It would have been a good long essay. We’re watching the final season of The Crown on Netflix. (What are you reading and watching?
If we were having coffee… I’d tell you I got a London Marathon number! I’m super excited. We loved visiting London in 2022 after more than 20 years away. I have to decide if I’ll stay a few days after or visit somewhere else in Europe. I’d ask if you have any fun events or trips coming up.
If we were having coffee… I’d tell you I’m doing Cycle for Survival for the 13th time next weekend. Cycle for Survival has raised over 350 million dollars for “rare” cancer research and my teams have raised over $100K. Almost all cancers (except some breast cancers and lung cancer) are rare. All money goes to research and they share the studies, results and technology to fight cancer. Learn more and support our ride here.
If we were having coffee… I’d ask “what’s happening by you?” Please tell me in the comments!
I’m linking up with Darlene, Michelle, Renee, Jenn and Zenaida, for Fit Five Friday. Join us!
PS. Please don’t forget my great giveaways.
