It’s the last Friday of the month, so it’s time to join Marcia for “Runfessions!” Runfessions are running truths or “where runners bare their souls and soles.” I can’t believe it’s almost 2024. It’s been a big year in running, so here are my final runfessions of 2023.
I runfess… I still can’t believe that I ran CIM (California International Marathon) at the beginning of December. After an injury before and fall in Chicago and an off day in NYC, I was hoping that I could run the first half to pace Christy in her first marathon and jump out. On the day, I had a great run and felt amazing. When Christy had some struggles, I was able to help her through and get her to the finish line in just over 4 hours. It was one of my favorite runs of the year.
I runfess… After running 5 marathons and 6 half marathons this year, I swore to be more careful with my sign ups for 2024. But you KNOW I haven’t been careful. On the books for 2024 so far NYC Half (March), Shamrock Shuffle 8K (March), Chicago 13.1 (June), Madison Half (August), Berlin Marathon (September) and Chicago Marathon (October). I’m trying to get a charity number for London (April) and will sign up for NYC (November), of course. So yeah – I’m incorrigible. Check out my 2023 running highlight reel here.
I runfess… I’m still doing my run streak. December 31 is day 1,410. It’s tempting to see if I can make it to 4 years on February 20, 2024. I’ll let you know. Check out my Zoo Lights birthday run reel here.
I runfess… It’s been unseasonably warm for most of December. Since we didn’t make it out to Los Angeles this holiday season, I’m not mad. I also took a jaunt to Puerto Rico with my college friends, so that helped with my winter blues.
I runfess… I have a really fun new running partnership in the works for 2024. I can’t wait to tell you about it in the new year!
Do you have any Runfessions? Please leave them in the comments.
