I found Nemi Snacks in the Spring of 2020. They sent me all of the flavors to try and to share. Since then, I became a superfan and have worked with them a few time. Recently, I met up with Regina to talk about Nemi and to catch up. She sent me a bunch of snacks to enjoy and to share. If you missed my previous posts, Nemi Cactus Sticks combine two of the founder’s favorite superfoods – amaranth seeds and nopal (cactus) into a delicious gluten-free, crunchy snack.
Nemi Snacks’ founder is a human rights attorney from Mexico. When Regina moved to Chicago in 2011, she wanted to stay connected to home while sharing her passion for food and health. She partners with small independent Mexican farmers using sustainable farming techniques. They support women farmers and use sustainable, drought-resistant plants that need little water to survive and thrive in arid climates.
Nemi Cactus Sticks are gluten free and vegan. They’re all natural, high in protein and fiber and contain no added sugar.
Nemi Cactus Sticks come in four flavors – three savory and one sweet. The flavors are Mexican Lime, Smoky Chipotle, Chili + Turmeric and Churro- Cinnamon.
My faves are Chili + Turmeric and Churro Cinnamon. These snacks are crunchy and satisfying. The seasonings are so tasty. The protein and fiber of these plant based snacks make them filling and a great afternoon snack to hold me over until dinner. I also break them up in salad or soup like croutons. So good!
