If you’ve been around here, you know I walk (and run) a lot. OrthoFeet contacted me to see if I wanted to try their podiatrist recommended, comfortable and functional sneakers. When I think of orthopedic shoes, I think of the stodgy white shoes nurses wear. I checked out their website and was excited to see cute sneakers, sandals, shoes and boots like the ones I have in my closet.
OrthoFeet products are doctor recommended. They’re designed to alleviate the symptoms associated with various foot and pain ailments. They have a variety of options to suit different needs and foot ailments. Their biomedical engineers use the latest technology to create footwear products that are effective and durable. They offer a 60-day wear test and a money back guarantee within 60 days.
They sent me the Francis Sneaker to try. I picked maroon, but it also comes in black, blue, rose and gray. The shoes come with removable premium orthotic inserts, 2 spacers and optional arch supports. They have a wide toe box, a soft padded fabric interior and a stretch knit upper.
These lightweight, cushioned shoes have an “Ergonomic-Stride” design to soften impact and alleviate stress on the joints and help facilitate foot motion. The insoles help to relieve heel and foot pain and provide extra support for people with low arches or “flat feet.” The larger toe box, padded interior and knit fabric helps eliminate pressure and foot pain.
I don’t wear orthotic inserts for running, but I tried them for walking. The shoes are very comfortable and I like the bungee closure for easy on and off. (They have some “hands free” options, too.) I especially liked that you don’t have to break the shoes in. They’re comfortable right out of the box and I walked several miles on my first use.
I didn’t need the spacers or additional arch supports, but it’s cool that you can customize the shoes to your feet. They sell the orthotic insoles separately, too. I can see using them with other shoes if you have plantar fasciitis or heel pain.
These sneakers are great for walking or standing. I could see wearing them if I had to stand on my feet at a conference or for work or traveling. They go with a lot of different pants and I would wear them with shorts, too!
