I found KINeSYS Sunscreen several years ago on The Feed. They billed it as “one of the most athlete-friendly sunscreens out there.” It’s comes in a pump and is easy to apply, not greasy and is water/sweat resistant. I’ve been a fan ever since. I recently connected with the KINeSYS team and they sent over products for me to try and share.
KINeSYS was created in 1995 in Vancouver, Canada. They saw the lack of quality sunscreens for people who loved being active and outdoors and wanted good sun protection. It had a loyal following, but a few years ago the business nearly closed. Lisa and Wade Heggie, an Australian couple, with a history of skin cancers purchased the company. They believe that KINeSYS is better than any sunscreen they’ve ever tried.
I met Lisa and Wade recently at the Running Industry Association’s Runchella conference. They provided sunscreen for the morning runs and showed us the impact of sunscreen with an infrared camera.
KINeSYS spray sunscreens are oil-free and offer UVA/UVB broad-spectrum protection. They are 80 minute sweat and water resistant. It’s also vegan and cruelty free and contains no parabens, PABAs or preservatives. The sunscreen is non-comedogenic which means that it doesn’t impair your body’s ability to sweat and vent the heat you are build up working out. The pump spray makes application so simple. You spray it on, rub it in and go!
KINeSYS comes in SPF 50 and SPF 30. They also have unscented in both SPF levels plus Mango and Vanilla Green Tea. They also make a Clear Zinc Sunscreen Cream in SPF 30. They come in 4 oz and 1 oz bottles. The 1 oz are perfect for destination races and travel. A few pumps go a long way.
I use the Fragrance Free SPF 50 for my summer running. I’m excited to try the Vanilla-Green Tea, too. The 1 oz SPF 50 is coming with me this weekend for the Mountains 2 Beach Marathon. This is the best sunscreen I’ve found for running and hiking – and I’ve tried a lot of them.
