I’m super excited to head to NYC today for the NYC Half. This is my 13th running and the 10th year I’ve run with Alexandra’s Playground. This organization was founded by my friends, Andrea and Michael Vitale, to honor the life of their daughter who passed away in 2008 when she was four years old. Alex loved to play. Therefore, the mission of the organization is to provide opportunities for children in underserved communities to have safe and active play areas. Our team has raised over $20,000 so far. If you’d like to support my run, here’s the link.
I’ve gotten questions on what I’m planning to wear. I always bring a bunch of options when I travel to a race. The forecast for tomorrow is NYC is high of 60 degrees but the overnight low on Saturday night is 30 and high on Sunday is 44. I will most likely where a long sleeve tech shirt, gloves and capris. I’m also bringing shorts and long compression socks in case the temps change.
I always bring my fuel and accessories as I’ve had trouble finding things in other years – even in NYC. What’s in my bag:
- Run Gum
- Salis Endurance Release Electrolytes – to take pre-race
- Salt Stick Chews – to take during the race
- Anti-Chafe from KT Tape
- Aloksak waterproof bag for my phone
- GU Liquid Energy – Coffee or Cola flavor
- FlipBelt – I may not need it because my capris have pockets. But I may use it for additional storage of things I don’t need during the race. [Get 20% off online with code ERICAAGRAN20]
- Energy Bars for pre-race/travel
- Lightweight gloves
- Running hat – bringing winter type beanie and baseball style and ear band
- Goodr sunglasses
What would you wear for a 30 – 40 degree race? What’s in your race/vacation travel kit?
