I’ve been a gimme Seaweed fan for several years. When Expo West was cancelled in 2020, they sent me an awesome care package of new products. This year after Expo East, they got in touch to see if I wanted to try some of their new flavored seaweed snacks and “single serve “grab and go” snack packs. Of course, I said “Yes!”
gimme Seaweed was the brainchild of Annie Chun’s family after they sold their eponymous natural foods brand. They decided to develop and sell “the best possible roasted seaweed in delicious new flavors.” They love roasted seaweed and have been eating this healthy Asian snack for years. Now, they’re “on a mission to turn seaweed – the most delicious, nutritious, and environmentally-sustainable vegetable in the world – into an absolute snacking sensation.”
Seaweed is good for you and good for the planet. It’s the most nutrient dense vegetable and requires no fresh water, land or resources to grow. Learn more about this amazing superfood here.
All gimme Seaweed snacks and nori are certified organic. They’re also non-GMO Project Verified, certified gluten free and vegan. Seaweed is low in calories, high in B12 and iodine. The roasted snacks are both keto and Paleo diet friendly.
They now come in eight varieties. The newest varieties are Chili Lime and Non-Dairy White Cheddar. The others are Sea Salt (3 ingredients), Teriyaki, Avocado Oil, Wasabi, Olive Oil and Toasted Sesame.
I love the new flavors – especially Chili Lime. This is such a satisfying salty snack for only 60 calories per pack. The Wasabi and non-dairy Cheddar (made with nutritional yeast) are also pretty addictive.
They also make full sized seaweed sheets. These are a low-carb way to “wrap, crumble, or roll with your favorite ingredients.” I’m excited to try some new wraps for lunch!
