I met the folks from Rule Breaker Snacks at Expo West in 2016. They were called Pure Genius Provisions then and they won a Nexty award at Expo East in 2016, too! They make delicious brownies and blondies that are free of the top 8 allergens with chickpeas as the base. I love holiday flavors and gingerbread is one of my faves. It’s this year’s limited edition seasonal flavor and they sent me some to try and share!
Rule Breaker’s brownies and blondies were developed by a health journalist with a big sweet tooth. [I can relate!] She tried all kinds of black bean recipes and finally switched to chickpeas. She knew a lot about food allergies and wanted to make “something everyone can eat.” With chickpeas as their first ingredient, they’re packed with protein and fiber. These “better for you treats” are plant based, vegan, non-GMO and gluten free.
They started with Dark Chocolate Brownies and Chocolate Chip Blondies. Next came Birthday Cake Blondies and P’Nutter Chocolate Chip (nut free) Blondies. Then, they made bite sized versions. The originals are still my faves. They have some seasonal bites like Pumpkin Spice, Strawberry Shortcake and Blueberry Lemonade.
The Gingerbread Juniors feature vegan white chocolate chips, warm ginger, cinnamon and allspice. They’re individually wrapped and only 110 calories. They’re great for school lunches, afternoon snacks and for allergen safe holiday treats. The Husband is a big fan – which means kids will love them – LOL. These are super yummy as an afternoon snack with tea or coffee. Gingerbread is definitely my jam!
