If you’ve been around here, you know I have a sweet tooth. I’m always on the look out for better for you sweet treats. I supported Pac Pac Snacks‘ Kickstarter for their konjac chews.
Pac Pac Snacks’ co-founder loved Japanese food and culture from a young age. He worked in Japan for several years and was working with a Japanese food company to bring its products to the US when the pandemic hit. They decided to hold off. He was approached by Shinji, a Japanese man working in the US, to bring konjac sweets to the US. They created Pac Pac Snacks. Pac Pac comes from the Japanese word “Paku Paku”which means to eat something passionately.
Konjac Chews are plant based, jelly strips that have great chewy texture and yummy flavors. Konjac (or konnyaku) is an herb grown in Japan. The stem of the plant has been used for cooking and medicinal purposes for many years. They use it tomake a delicious, plant-based jelly snack with less sugar, calories and fat than in other gummy/jelly candies. You can read more about konjac here.
Despite being a delicious treat, these jelly snacks were created with nutrition in mind. Because they contain konjac in both flavors and chia seeds in the peach flavor, these jelly snacks contain fiber, have only 20 calories per serving and are vegan and gluten free. They also use beet sugar instead of high fructose corn syrup found in many other gummy candies.
The first two flavors are Matcha and Peach with Chia Seeds. Each 20 calorie snack is individually wrapped to take with you on the go! There are 16 snacks per package.
I love the Peach with Chia Seeds! It’s not too sweet and has a nice taste and texture. One satisfies my craving for “a little something” sweet! The Matcha is not too sweet and it’s also not bitter like some matcha products. I’m not the hugest matcha fan but if you are, this one’s for you!
