I found Rareform in 2017 and have been a big fan ever since. Rareform is a Los Angeles company that repurposes billboards into one-of-kind bags and accessories. They’re bold, eco-friendly and each piece is one of a kind!
After seeing billboards used as roofs in El Salvador, Rareform’s founders created a surfboard bag made with used billboard vinyl. The material is durable, weather resistant and not typically recyclable. The now reuse over 80% of the billboards you see in major cities and highways across the US to make one of a kind, everyday accessories. They clean and hand cut all of the billboards manually. Their factory partners who sew the products are fair trade and provide safe and ethical work conditions. They have over 50,000 unique pieces on hand at any one time!
I was cleaning out my closet and found two really cool Rareform Blake Totes that I got on sale a while ago. The Blake Totes ($55) are lightweight, water resistant and easy to clean. The bags are 15″ x 22″ by 7″ and have a 20″ strap. They’re lined with grey nylon pack cloth and have an internal zip pocket. They say, “from the beach to the farmers market and everywhere in between, there’s space for all your essentials and more.”
Since I have two extra bags, I’m going to send one to a lucky reader. The bags are one of a kind and the winner can pick from the two above. The backs are mostly white with a bit of pattern on each. These bags are stylish, easy to clean and super sturdy for shopping or the beach. They’re the perfect summer accessory.
