If we were having coffee… I’d tell you that I’m excited to run the new Chicago 13.1 half marathon this weekend and Grandma’s Marathon on June 18th. I was missing my friends and shenanigans in Ojai, CA last weekend and felt sad about missing the race this weekend, but I feel good about my decision. It’s fun to have other events to focus on. I’d ask if you’re doing any races or fun events this month.
If we were having coffee… I’d tell you that I had a blast at Sweets and Snacks last week, but boy are live conventions tiring! I also went to the National Restaurant Show for the first time. It was very big and pretty overwhelming. For the most part it wasn’t organized by category but the Natural and Organic foods were in one place so that was cool. As far as Sweets & Snacks, here’s my recap. Stay tuned for giveaways of sweets and snacks and some new featured brands. I’d ask if you have a favorite candy or snack from when you were a kid.
If we were having coffee… I’d tell you that we may be heading to Spain this summer to visit with our friends from Russia. It will be out first international trip since February of 2020. I’m so excited! I’ve missed overseas travel. The flight costs have risen dramatically, but we’ve saved a lot on travel in the past few years. I definitely experienced some sticker shock when I did the flight searches! I’d ask what your travel plans are this summer.
If we were having coffee… I’d tell you that run tours are picking up and I’m looking forward to running with people from around the world this summer. I have a tour with someone from England next week. I’m also working on setting up some tours with The Peninsula. If you’re in Chicago, join me, Arc’teryx and A Sweat Life for a tour on June 22. If we were having coffee… Last month, I mentioned Four Sigmatic’s mushroom coffee and that I tried Om’s new mushroom broth with some kohlrabi noodles from Trader Joe’s. My healthy meal hack of the month is Om Mushroom Broth with Trader Joe’s Cauliflower Gnocchi. It’s so fast and so good. I cooked the gnocchi in the microwave (though stove top would probably be even tastier). Then, I added 1/2 of the packet of mushroom broth and 1/4 c. of water. I then stirred and microwaved for 1 minute. It was really delish! Any healthy hacks to share?
