I met the folks from Banana Vital at Expo East last fall. They make pocket sized fruit bars with only fruit. They’re basically on the go bananas (and on the go bananas with guava). Banana Vital combines 2 simple ingredients – yellow banana and green banana – into a nutritious bar. It’s “always ripe, never bruised and always tastes great.” It’s ingenious!
Banana Vital’s nutritional profile is even better than a banana. It has additional vitamins and minerals and prebiotics. The perfect, healthy, on-the-go snack, that won’t get smashed in your bag. It provides energy “as nature intended.” Banana Vital is produced with bananas from the second largest banana plantation in Brazil with nearly 1 million banana trees. They use the leftover peels to create animal feed to ensure no part of the banana is wasted.
The weekend of Expo East, I did my last long run for the Chicago Marathon. I ran with the a group training for the Philadelphia Marathon. I stashed a Banana Vital bar in my pocket and ate it mid run. It was great for fuel and easy to digest.
Banana Vital comes in two flavors: Simply Banana and Simply Banana + Guava. Each bar has 90 calories. They’re vegan, gluten free, Non-GMO and have no added sugar. They contain 9 essential vitamins and minerals and are a rich source of potassium.
The bars are great for fuel when biking or hiking. I shared some bars with my friend Kathy. She has the great idea of cutting them into small pieces and using them as on the run fuel. I cut them up and took them with me on my long run. It was a great way to use natural fuel. And like before, they were easy to digest and easy to chew.
