I met the folks from Werner Jerky and Snacks at the Sweets and Snacks show this year. When I saw that they were from Tillamook, Oregon, I mentioned that I was running the Hood to Coast relay this year. They offered to send me a care package for my team. They really came through! I even have some extra to share. [If you missed my Sweets & Snacks recap, you can check it out here.]
Werner is a family owned company that’s been making high quality jerky and snacks for 25 years. They produce top quality meat snacks, trail mixes, roasted nuts and candy on the Oregon Coast. Like many favorite snacks, they started making their jerky in their garage and selling at farmers markets and have grown from there. They use premium ingredients and a special blends of spices for their meat products and snacks.
Werner makes jerky, meat sticks, meat snacks, nuts, trail mixes and candy. They sent me a huge variety of jerky, meat sticks, meat snacks and snack mixes. They also sent t-shirts for everyone! We felt like kind of a big deal!
I sent the goodies back to Oregon to a teammate’s house. Since we had two vans for Hood to Coast, we split everything into two boxes to equip the vans for the 24 – 26 hours ahead.
Our van started running at 7:00 PM and finished after 11:00 PM. Then we ran from 3:45 AM to 7:30 AM and from 1:00 PM to 5:30 PM. When we were in the transition areas, there was not much food to be had. We had a lot of PB & J and the snack mixes, jerky and meat sticks kept us fueled! Team faves were the pepperoni meat sticks, Sweet & Spicy Jerky, Sportsman’s Mix and Yogurt Mix.
