It’s the first weekend of the month so I’m having some virtual coffee. I‘m linking up with Coco @ Running with Perseverance and Deborah @ Confessions of a Mother Runner for the Ultimate Coffee Date.
What is the Ultimate Coffee Date? Imagine we are having coffee together… this post is what I would tell you. So grab a cup, “listen” and then tell me what is going on with you in the comments, please!
If we were having coffee… I’d tell you that since last month’s coffee date, Chicago is now totally open. Restaurants, museums and gyms are back to capacity and outdoor mask requirements have all been lifted. Things seem pretty “normal.” I went to a chef’s dinner at Avec with some friends and it seemed pretty much like the pre-COVID days. I’d ask how things are by you!
If we were having coffee… I’d tell you that I went to a trade show last week and stayed in a hotel for the first time since early 2020! I had the opportunity to go to the NCA Sweets & Snacks Show in Indianapolis. It’s usually held in Chicago, but it was moved because Chicago wasn’t planning to open for conferences in time. It was a little strange at first but felt pretty comfortable after a little while. I connected with a ton of great brands – so stay tuned. It was pretty exhausting being “on” all day and touring Indy in the evening. I’m out of practice! Here’s my show recap.
If we were having coffee… I’d tell you that I also got to take a tour with Reena from Go! Running Tours in Indianapolis while I was there. We met up with my friend Joe and did a tour of Crown Hill Cemetery. It was super interesting and scenic. Then, we checked out the Bottleworks hotel and had a quick dinner at “The Garage” – an upscale food court. The next morning, I went for a run downtown. Indy’s a pretty cool city for running – who knew?!
If we were having coffee… I’d tell you that I had the opportunity to lead a running tour in Lincoln Park as part of a “Celebrations We Missed” prize. Michelob ULTRA and A Sweat Life are hosting a sweepstakes to help individuals and groups who were not able to celebrate milestones, weddings, birthdays, etc. to get together and have fun. The first one was to celebrate Kirby M. She rescheduled her wedding, changed cities and jobs and had the Boston Marathon she qualified for cancelled – twice. Since she’s an avid runner, her celebration day included my Lincoln Park running tour with 10 friends. Her fiance and dad came in to surprise her. What a blast! [Miss anything big? Enter The Celebrations We Missed Sweepstakes until the end of 2021.]
If we were having coffee… I’d ask if you were doing anything special for the 4th? We’re going to a few local BBQs/parties. I’m running a 4 mile race on the 3rd and the 4th will be the 500th day of my run streak. I don’t think we’ll see any planned fireworks, but there are always a ton here all over. What are you up to?
If we were having coffee… I’d ask “what’s happening by you?” Please tell me in the comments!
I’m linking up with Darlene, Michelle, Renee, Jenn and Zenaida, for Fit Five Friday. Join us!
Have a good weekend!
PS. Please don’t forget my great giveaways. The two most recent are for coffee/tea and high protein, non-dairy creamers – apropos of something!
