I love supporting Chicago businesses – especially when they make “better for you” snacks and treats. The folks from Blake’s Seed Based have expanded their line to include rice crispy treats. They reached out to see if I wanted to check them out. Of course, I said “yes.” They sent me a bunch of bars and the new treats to try and will send some to a lucky reader, so read on.
Blake grew up as an athlete with a severe nut allergy. He was frustrated by the lack of healthy, tasty options to fuel his workouts. He started making his own bars with seeds instead of nuts. He found that people with and without food allergies loved them and Blake’s Seed Based was born.
Blake’s bars and treats are made with pumpkin, sunflower and flax seeds, fruit and chocolate. They have “all of the taste and none of the allergens!” The bars are allergy friendly meaning they’re free of gluten, peanuts, tree nuts, dairy, soy, egg and sesame. They’re also vegan. They fuel your active life or school or work day.
Blake’s Snack Bars come in four flavors. They are Blueberry and Lemon, Raspberry, Pineapple and S’Mores. You can see the seeds and fruit or chocolate in the bars. They also have quinoa puffs, rice and chickpeas. The texture is like a soft granola bar. My favorite is Raspberry. At 150 calories or less, they’re great if you need a snack or a pre-workout boost.
The new rice crispy treats come in two flavors. They are Chocolate Chip and Strawberry. This re-imagined treat is allergy friendly and vegan. It takes a rice crispy treat and adds pumpkin seeds, flax seeds and sunflower seeds to boost the nutritional value. Coming in at 90 calories, it’s an awesome treat that fits into most diets. I like both flavors but the Chocolate Chip is my favorite.
