The folks from Patterbar wrote to ask me if I wanted to check out their whole food energy bars. I looked at their website and saw that they make plant based, whole food energy bars in yummy flavors. Of course, I said, “yes, please.”
Patter Gersuk told me that she “made these bars for my children because I couldn’t find pure food snacks.” She’s a classically trained chef, so her family always had the benefit of her talents. In 2017, her son-in-law, who was a former Division 1 college athlete urged her to sell them. He said there was nothing out there that tasted so good that wasn’t made up of unhealthy ingredients. They started with farmer’s markets in Colorado and are now online and in retail stores.
Patter Bars are plant based and are made whole foods and no added sugar. They’re gluten-free, dairy free and soy free. They’re also free of sweeteners, additives and fillers. They’re naturally sweetened with Medjool dates from the Coachella Valley. They’re made in small batches by Patter and her culinary students.
Patter Bars come in four flavors. They are Blueberry + Lemon, Fruit + Nut + Seed, Coconut + Cashew and Cherry + Cacao (new). They’re made with freshly roasted and ground nuts, hand zested ginger and lemon, fresh dates, fresh roasted coconut, Michigan cherries, Oregon blueberries and gluten-free oats. It’s just real food!
I love the combination of blueberry and lemon, so that was the bar I tried first. As you can see the bar is bursting with real blueberries and other foods you can easily identify. This bar has a variety of seeds and tahini. I love sesame and found the balance of flavors in this bar to be unique and delicious. The Fruit + Nut + Seed bar has dried cherries, almonds, walnuts amount it’s top ingredients. The flavor on this one is a bit less unique, but it’s soft and fresh and very tasty. If you like Cacao, the new Cacao + Cherry may top your list.
