Friday Five: Pandemic Runfessions 11

It’s Friday, so I’m linking up for the new Fit Friday Five. I’m doubling down and linking up with Marcia for March “Runfessions,” too! Runfessions are running truths or “where runners bare their souls and soles.”

I runfess… I had a great time sightrunning in Chinatown last weekend. We went down to support the Asian American and AAPI community. There was a movement that asked people to start and end runs in Chinatown to bring awareness to violence against people in the AAPI communities. It was a great experience. I’m planning to add Chinatown and Ping Tom Park to a running tour for Go! Running Tours coming soon.

I runfess… I’m still on my running streak. I’m up to 400 days today and have averaged over 6 miles per day. I had a cranky hip last week but I’m feeling a lot better now. I won a massage from a 7 on Sundays challenge with Nike Run Club and I’m going to do it on Tuesday. It will be my first massage in 15 months. I am crazy excited.

I runfess… I’m pretty jazzed about my profile in Lauren’s new book High-Performance Nutrition for Masters Athletes. [Stay tuned for a review and giveaway or get it here.] It’s not so often that I’m given a two page spread in a book with Meb, Deena Kastor, Kara Goucher and Ryan Hall – among many others. The nutrition information is helpful and interesting, but the athlete profiles are really what kept me reading.

I runfess… I feel kind of special testing out my ME3D custom insoles from Superfeet and Fleet Feet. It’s kind of like being a professional having something custom made. The fit process is really cool. I got a full report on my feet including the exact sizes (one is 8.1 and one is 8.7), arches, heels and more. Stay tuned for a full report on the process and my experience with the custom insoles. I’ll be hosting a giveaway, too!

Our A Sweat Life crew at the “Southside Shuffle”

I runfess… I had so much fun running the virtual Shamrock Shuffle with 7 on Sundays, Gumbo Fit and Last Lap Cornerstore. A group of us joined about 30 runners from these groups on the South Side of the Lakefront Trail. We ran an unsanctioned race and had a safe outdoor post race gathering. I’m not going to lie, after running slow and steady every day for 13 months, it was really hard to push my pace. I set a modest goal and came in in the right range, but I have a lot of work to do to get back to pre-COVID paces!

Do you have any Runfessions to share? Please leave them in the comments.

I’m linking up with DarleneMichelleReneeJenn and Zenaida, for Fit Five Friday. Join us!

Have a great weekend!

PS. Don’t miss my great giveaways!
