I found Undercover Quinoa at Whole Foods on a trip to New Jersey in 2018. The package was adorable and appealing, so I checked it out. I ate the whole bag in one sitting. The good news is that it’s only 120 calories per serving and each bag is two servings. Eating the whole bag is like eating a candy bar but better for you!
I’ve been keeping up with Undercover Snacks ever since my original find. I even worked with them at a food show here in Chicago. I was getting excited to try their new flavor at Expo West. It was nominated for a coveted Nexty award for innovative snack foods. When it was cancelled, they sent some over for me to try and share. When I saw their new seasonal flavors, I checked in to get some samples. They sent me some to try and some to share.
Undercover Quinoa is a snack made with quinoa and “just enough” premium chocolate. It’s gluten free, non-GMO, fair trade and all natural. As they say, it’s basically “healthy ingredients under cover.”
Undercover Quinoa has three seasonal flavors. Dark Chocolate + Pumpkin Spice, Milk Chocolate + Peppermint and Dark Chocolate + Peppermint.
I love the Dark Chocolate + Pumpkin Spice. I’m not a PSL fan nor am I obsessed with pumpkin spice like some people. That being said, this is one of my favorite Undercover Quinoa flavors! It has the perfect spice blend for me. Of course, I ate the whole bag but thankfully, it’s about the same amount of calories as one candy bar.
You can see the mint candy in the Peppermint flavors. Of the two, I prefer the milk chocolate. It seemed mintier to me. I like the mild chocolate with the minty flavor.
