I met the folks from Mikey’s at Expo West in 2017 and had a chance to try more at Expo East in 2017. Recently, they reached out to see if I wanted to try all three flavors of their Grain Free English Muffins. Of course. I said “yes!” While I don’t follow a Paleo diet or eat totally grain free, I love the simple, whole food ingredients in Mikey’s.
Mikey’s founder, Mike Tierney, is a trained chef who’s worked in some of the finest restaurants in the US. He was doing catering when he found some gluten free products that were filled with strange ingredients. He knew he could make them better and better for you. He started with English muffins and they now have nationwide distribution of a variety of delicious, grain free products.
Mikey’s is committed to creating products taste great and are also free from many common allergens. All products are free from gluten, grain, soy and dairy and contain no additives or preservatives.
Mikey’s English Muffins are Paleo, gluten free, dairy free, keto friendly and low in carbs. They’re made with eight simple ingredients including almond flour, coconut flour and egg whites. They’re great for breakfast, for egg sandwiches and avocado toast or as keto-friendly burger buns.
The Grain Free English Muffins come in three flavors. They are Original, Cinnamon and Toasted Onion. You can find them in the frozen section. You can thaw them overnight in the refrigerator or on the kitchen counter for an hour or two.
Original is my favorite followed by Cinnamon Raisin. These are not a direct swap for traditional English muffins, but they have a great taste and texture. My favorite use for these is toasted with eggs and salsa or as avocado toast. The Cinnamon Raisin is great with cream cheese or butter. I didn’t try these with burgers but I will!
