I met the folks from Chagit at The Outside Experience last summer. Mushrooms were all the rage at Expo East and Expo West last year. The Chaga variety is big in energy products and is seen as a “superfood.” Chaga mushrooms are packed with antioxidants and have anti-inflammatory properties, as well. According to the research, they have over 200 beneficial compounds in them. Here’s my post on their Chaga shots from last summer.
The Chaga Mushroom is found in the frigid birch forests of northern Europe, Asia and America. It has been used by native tribes for thousands of years. In its natural state, it’s impossible for a human to digest and gain any benefits. It’s difficult to find, harvest and process.
The natives who discovered Chaga made a tea from it, but they also made soaps. The outer shell of the Chaga Mushroom is almost pure melanin – the antioxidant our skin uses to protect us from the sun. The handcrafted soap delivers a direct dose of antioxidants directly to your skin.
They crush the outside of the Chaga to use as a natural exfoliant. The extraction is blended with honey and aloe to create the basis for the Pure Face Soap.
Chaga has many benefits to the skin. It helps to fight damage from the sun and elements and helps to regulate the skin’s pH. This can help with skin allergies and other skin conditions such as acne, psoriasis and eczema. The melanin can also “remove lines or wrinkles to [help] maintain a youthful and healthy appearance.”
I’ve been using the Chagit Pure Face Soap to fight “maskne” and some eczema. My skin feels really soft and I love that it’s all natural. The exfoliant is not harsh like some soaps and it has a nice light scent. I haven’t noticed lines fading away but I’m still hopeful!
