It’s Friday, so I’m linking up with Fairytales and Fitness for the Friday Five. There’s a lot of bad stuff going on out there, but there are some things that I’m really enjoying and taking solace in. These are additive to my Home Life Pass Times – still addicted to Spelling Bee and puzzles and enjoying Zoom meet ups, virtual Pilates and cooking.
5 Things I’m Loving Lately (Quarantine Edition)
Creative Socially Distant Celebrations – You may have seen on Instagram, but I helped Amber to celebrate turning 40 with a socially distant running challenge. She ran 4 miles every two hours until she hit 40 miles. I did the first four sessions. In between, we hung out in a friend’s yard and enjoyed a variety of runners coming to “celebrate” with us. It was a blast. Luckily the weather wasn’t too hot and we had a place to use the bathroom and change. We’ve also had socially distant visits in parks and on a few patios. It’s been so nice to see friends in real life.
Some Clutch New Summer Running Gear – I’ve been loving my Nathan Women’s Running Vest for holding water and all my gear. It’s super light and easy to clean. It’s a game changer. I’m loving my new Belcorva “Runner’s Dream” 5 Pocket Shorts. They have large phone pockets and a zip pocket plus boy shorts underneath to prevent chafing! And, they’re only $38! I’ve been using my MyEThree gaiters for face covering here in the city when I run. They’re super light and easy to clean and they come in fun patterns.
Fun Fitness Challenges – I’m doing my second Runstreet challenge in as many months. June’s Run with the Wolves Challenge had three levels. I did “Level 3” which was 120 miles running, 1200 squats, 1200 push ups and 600 burpees in 30 days. This month’s Super Wolf Challenge also had three levels. “Level 3” is also 120 miles of running, 600 burpees and now 600 lunges and 800 mountain climbers with bonus moves each week. In August, I’m leading a team with Lynn for the GBS/CIDP Foundation’s Raise Well Challenge. It’s a 30 day wellness challenge (see above). If you want to join us, click here and click “Join Team” and select “Team IronLynn.”
Weekly Outdoor Training Sessions – I’ve been meeting my trainer Bianca on our back patio each week. I bring down my yoga mat, weights, resistance bands and a jump rope. We wear masks and work out for an hour. It’s so nice to have someone to push me and to work out with Bianca again. She has such positive energy and it makes me feel stronger.
Stopping to smell the flowers – The rainy spring (and lack of people allowed) has made Lincoln Park and the Lakefront Trail luscious with greenery and flowers and filled with geese and goslings and ducks and ducklings. Nature! It’s a big buggy and allergy provoking but I’m enjoying stopping to take it in and to take some photos!
That’s all from here! What are you loving lately? Please tell me in the comments!
Have a great weekend!
