I’ve been enjoying 88 Acres seed based bars and seed’nola since they launched in 2014. I supported their Kickstarter and reconnected with them in 2017 (post). They refreshed their branding and added an awesome line of seed based butters including new NEXTY winning watermelon seed butter. They’ve just released a new line of dressings and sent them to me to try!
88 Acres came from the founder’s need to come up with tasty, healthy nut-free snacks for her husband. He has a life threatening nut allergy, so the founder (who grew up on an 88 acre organic farm) started “tinkering” with seed based bar recipes. Once their friends started asking for more, they launched 88 Acres. All of the seed based products are hand-crafted in Boston in a dedicated facility free of peanuts, tree nuts, gluten, dairy, eggs and soy.
88 Acres’ newest innovation is salad dressings made with seeds. The dressings are packed with protein (4-5 grams per serving), have a creamy texture from the healthy fats in seeds and come in 5 great flavors. The dressings are gluten free, vegan, nut free and non-GMO. They add versatility to your pantry as a dressing, dip or marinade.
The new dressings come in five great flavors. They are Garden Ranch, Green Goddess, Lemon Poppy Seed, Smoky Chipotle and Southwest Turmeric. They’re made with ingredients you know and recognize.
I’ve been making grain bowls, veggies and salads like crazy. My favorite is Southwest Turmeric. I’ve used it on different grain bowls and veggie combos. I’m going to try it (and the Smoky Chipotle) on roasted chicken, too. Lauren tried the Lemon Poppy Seed on a baby kale salad with roasted broccoli, cherry tomatoes, mushrooms and red cabbage. She said, “I absolutely loved it! It’s light, mildly tart and refreshing.” As someone who follows a vegan diet, she loves the extra protein in the dressings, too.
