If you live in a crowded area like me, you need a face covering to wear when running. Since I can’t reliably run with 6 feet clearance in my neighborhood, I’ve been wearing a mask or gaiter to cover my nose and mouth. In early May, a Chicago company reached out to me to see if I wanted to try out their gaiters for my running. I said “sure!”
MyEThree was started by triathlete Michele Rivera. The E’s are “Empower, Enlighten and Encourage”. Michele is a pharmacist by training but currently runs a photography company with her husband, Andy, who is a trained physician. Michele is “a wife, mommy of one, small business owner, photographer, pharmacist and an endurance junkie. [She] loves to swim, bike, and run and seek endorphins.” Like me, she loves to try new things and to create and design. Since most of her 2020 races have been canceled, she’s been doing a lot of gaiter designing, playing her guitar and biking. [Fun fact about Michele – her husband signed her up for a triathlon in 2017 so she had to learn to swim! Since then she’s completed an Ironman. That’s hard core.]
MyEThree gaiters are multi-function. They can be used as face coverings, neck gaiters, sweat bands and more. They’re made from a moisture wicking, light microfiber material. They’re wind resistant to keep you warm in winter and cool in summer. Plus, they’re also seamless to prevent chafing and have SPF of 10 – 15.
Michele sent me a Chicago flag and a Camo gaiter. They’re nice and long so you can double them for extra protection or cut in half to have two face coverings for summer. These are so light and easy to get used to wearing. I’ve been wearing the Chicago flag for running and The Husband is using the Camo for when he’s out and about. These was really well and dry quickly. We’re loving them! As it gets hotter, I’m planning to throw them in the freezer for 30 minutes before I run as I’ve done with gaiters in the past when hiking and running.
