I was cleaning up one of the spots where I keep blog goodies and good stuff. I found some BirdProject Soap that I bought in a fundraiser for environmental clean up after the BP Deepwater Horizon Oil Spill.
The company that created this soap is now Goods That Matter. They provide “a trusted home for eco-conscious customers to purchase the highest quality, eco-friendly, handmade-in-America goods for everyday use.” Each product is handmade in the USA with eco-friendly materials. Ten percent of all proceeds go to causes that “impact the health, happiness and sustainability of our communities both locally and for our neighbors around the world.”
The BirdProject Soap is a bird shaped soap with a small ceramic keepsake bird made of Louisiana clay inside. They say, “Through the daily act of washing, you will eventually free the clean, white, ceramic birds inside – potent symbols of restoration and recovery. The soap is shaped to be cradled in your hand and is a powerful representation of all creatures affected by the BP Deepwater Horizon Oil Spill Disaster.“
The soaps are made with all natural, locally sourced ingredients. They include biodiesel glycerin, fair trade olive oil, aloe, activated black charcoal and a light cypress scent. They’re made by Emily Manger Davis of Sweet Olive Soaps, a third generation soapmaker from New Orleans.
Ten percent of proceeds are donated to Gulf Restoration Network & International Bird Rescue. They focus on environmental cleanup and care for animals harmed in the the BP Deepwater Horizon Oil Spill Disaster. They’ve raised over $28,000 so far.
I’m going to send one of these awesome soaps to a lucky reader. Please use the Rafflecopter below to enter. Winner must be 18 years of age or older, a US resident and the offer is void where prohibited. The giveaway is open through February 2. Winner will be selected and notified by February 3.
