It’s Friday, so I’m linking up with Fairytales and Fitness for the Friday Five. Since it’s the first weekend of the month, I‘m also linking up with Coco @ Running with Perseverance and Deborah @ Confessions of a Mother Runner for the Ultimate Coffee Date, too.
What is the Ultimate Coffee Date? Imagine we’re having coffee together… this post is what I would tell you. So grab a cup, “listen” and then tell me what is going on with you in the comments, please!
If we were having coffee… I’d tell you that I ran my first race of the decade last weekend. It was a wet and not too cold version of the F3 Lake Half Marathon. I was happy that I finished 4 minutes faster than last year with a pace of 7:53/mile. I’d mention that I’m looking forward to the NYC Half, Milwaukee Half and Gazelle Girl Half (a new race-cation in Grand Rapids). I’d ask if you had any races or girls’ weekends coming up soon.
If we were having coffee… I’d tell you that I’m super excited to go to Chile for vacation and a wedding in February. The Husband and I have been to Argentina and Peru and loved both. We haven’t been to Chile yet, so we’re excited to visit the Atacama Desert and Santiago. I’d ask if you have any fun trips coming up or other fun plans.
If we were having coffee… I’d tell you that my Cycle for Survival team has raised over $11,500! I’d tell you that we got awesome new singlets this year that my friend Holly designed (and show you the picture!). I’d probably mention that my raffle is still open, encourage you to check it out and then send you the link.
If we were having coffee… I’d ask if you’ve seen Game Changers. It’s a movie about athletes changing to a vegan diet. The mixed martial arts champion, James Wilks, interviews athletes, physicians and scientists about a plant based / vegan diet. The film is produced by James Cameron and Arnold Schwarzenegger. It was really interesting and not judge-y or preachy. It definitely made me think and want to do some blood tests (and time trials for running) and then try a plant based diet for a month and do the tests again. I’d ask if you’d seen or read anything thought provoking lately.
If we were having coffee… I’d tell you that our 8+ day cloudy stretch in Chicago is getting me down. Running and other exercise normally helps me feel better but this week has been tough. Luckily, I’ve had some fun stuff this week like the screening of Game Changers and the opening of Rick Bayless’ new restaurant Tortazo in the Willis Tower food hall with Sapna. I’d ask what you’ve been doing to beat the winter blues.
If we were having coffee… I’d ask “what’s happening by you?” Please tell me in the comments!
PS. Please don’t forget my great giveaways and Cycle for Survival raffle.
