It’s Friday, so I’m linking up with Fairytales and Fitness for Friday Five. I’m doubling down and linking up with Marcia for September “Runfessions,” too! Runfessions are running truths or “where runners bare their souls and soles.” It’s two weeks until the Chicago Marathon.
Here are my Chicago Marathon runfessions:
1. I runfess… I’m getting pretty excited. If you’ve been around here, you know I haven’t run the Chicago since 2007. It was a personal worst for me time wise and I’m lucky that Stacy, Kim and Rhys still speak to me after I completely lost my cool and acted like a lunatic. I’m excited to join the party this year and I think it’s going to be a great day! (I’m manifesting – please join me in manifesting a great day!)
2. I runfess… I’m super impressed with all of the cool stuff that Nike is doing for the marathon. Check out the race week calendar here.
- October 10: The latest VaporFly Next % launches at Notre and Nike Chicago and first access to the Bowerman Track Club fall collection and an athlete panel at Heartbreak Hill Running Company
- October 11 – Race 004: The finale to the 2019 Nike Pop Up Race Series, cohosted by the Bowerman Track Club will taking over Soldier Field for a 4×800 relay featuring Chicago’s race crews. [I’m running with my A Sweat Life crew. You can sign up here.]
- October 11 & 12: Nike Experts Shuttle Bus – running between Nike Chicago and the Abbott Health & Fitness Expo at McCormick Place. Nike Experts will be on board the bus to answer questions on the ride! Sign up for a free spot on the shuttle here on October 8.
- October 13 (post race) & 14: Complimentary medal engraving (10/13 – 10 AM – 8 PM and 10/14 9 AM – 6 PM at Nike Chicago on Michigan Ave)
3. I runfess… I’m also excited for Runstreet’s Shake Out run on 10/12 in West Town. It’s a fun, relaxed way to get a shake out in and to see some of the best street art in Chicago. Plus, I’ll have tons of friends there. Join us from 10 – 11:30. Get your tickets here.
4. I runfess… I’m not a huge fan of the official “merch” this year, but other people love it. This VaporKnit tank is $80. I don’t get it! I think the design is too Chicago Bears for me. What do you think? And not to be cranky but the race shirt looks like a Shamrock Shuffle shirt (read: not special) but at least I know the fit will be good!
5. I runfess… I’ve run a ton of miles this summer for Chicago and I feel really good. I don’t want to jinx it, but I’m hoping for a solid run on 10/13. I have a ton of friends that will be running and on the course cheering. I’m definitely hoping for an all time high number of smiles per mile. Will you be cheering? Let me know where to look for you!
Do you have any Runfessions? Please leave them in the comments.
Have a great weekend!
