I love coffee so today’s a pretty important day. It’s National Coffee Day! The Husband and I recently had the opportunity to check out a local coffee roaster, Maple Leaf Coffee Roasters, in the Chicago suburbs.
Maple Leaf Coffee Roasters is a passion project for its founder. Alex loves coffee and went from roasting his own cups at home to opening Maple Leaf Coffee Roasters. They have a roasting room where you can buy coffee and see how and where it’s roasted. Alex prides himself on researching, sourcing and roasting the best coffee in small batches.
The Husband and I went out to meet Alex and his wife, Lynn, and got a tour. Alex showed us how the roaster works and the detailed logs he keeps for each type of roast and bean. There is even a difference in the process depending on the weather outside.
Alex sources a variety of beans from all over the world – but not from Canada! They’re huge Canada fans and named their business and many roasts after their favorite place to visit.
We brought home two of their roasts to try at home. We got the Toronto Blend – a medium roast blend of Brazilian and Guatemalan Beans – and the Costa Rican El Poeta – another medium roast. Both coffees are very smooth and super drinkable. The Husband loves that they’re not bitter and they’re very smooth. I’m a fan, too!
Maple Leaf Coffee Roasters sells from their store and online. If you’re in the Roselle, IL area, you can make an appointment for a tour and tasting or stop by to talk coffee and buy some beans. If not, you can order online. You can email them with any questions. They also have a subscription service – a great holiday gift for your coffee loving recipient!
To celebrate National Coffee Day, Maple Leaf Coffee Roasters will gift one lucky person with a $20 voucher for their online site. [If you’re local and want to check out their shop, they’ll accommodate that, too!] Please use the Rafflecopter below to enter. The giveaway runs through October 7. A winner will be selected and notified on October 8. Winner must be 18 years or older and the offer is void where prohibited.

National Coffee Day Bonus Round!
Want to sweeten your National Coffee Day? Grab some Loacker’s Hazelnut Quadratinis. I love these wafer cookies. They’re four layers of yummy hazelnut cream filling held together by five light, crispy wafers. These wafers are the perfect pair for any coffee or espresso drink. Trust me – You’ll like them. You’re welcome!
Also, if you’re on the road a lot like me, check out Steeped Coffee in single serve bags. I’m trying these out now and will provide a full review soon. They’re a great way to have a fresh brewed coffee anywhere you can get boiling water. Say goodbye to bad hotel/office coffee!
Please note: I received these products at no cost in exchange for an honest review. I was not otherwise compensated for this post. All opinions are my own.
