Get Great Workout Looks without Breaking the Bank

It’s Friday, so I’m linking up with Fairytales and Fitness for the Friday Five. If you’ve been around here a while, you may recall I started as a deal finding blogger. I love to get a good deal on workout gear and shoes but I also like to look and feel good. I’m going to share my best tips for getting great gear with great deals.

Get Great Workout Looks without Breaking the Bank

1. Try last season’s styles or colors. I do this with running shoes and workout clothes. I stock up at the end of the season for the following year. Here’s a secret – no one will notice!

2. Be a savvy online shopper. If you know your sizes in brands you like, online shopping can be the perfect option for savvy shoppers. Here are some tips:

  • Search on Amazon or Google to see prices across a variety of retailers.
  • Check out Active Junky which offers cash back (+ coupons) for online shopping for major active retailers like REI and Moosejaw. Check Rakuten (formerly ebates) and compare. Sometimes Rakuten has double cash back deals, too.
  • Keep an eye on curated fitness sale sites like The Clymb and Leftlane Sports. They offer 72 hour sales on great active brands. Act fast – they sell-out quickly.
  • Get great deals on last season’s items and closeouts from sites like Sierra Trading Post.
  • Reader tip – try Poshmark or eBay and search for your fave brands.
  • No matter what, before you buy, do a google search for promotions and coupon codes to be sure that you are getting the best deals. Sign up for retailer e-newsletters for coupons and sales, too.

3. Go local and hit the sale rack! Try active wear and running stores, big box sporting good stores and even department stores [Reader tip – try Kohl’s!]. Don’t be shy, hit the sale rack first. I always do! Another tip – try Target and Walmart. They have some great active wear brands and super deals. [Reader tip – don’t forget to look at TJ Maxx or Marshalls!]

4. Join a running club or workout class at an active wear or running store. I lead a Tuesday night run with Athleta’s Southport store. We get some special perks and deals and always see what’s new first!

5. Try a subscription service like Ellie. Ellie delivers 3 curated workout pieces per month for $39.95. This is less than the cost of one piece at many athletic retailers. After a few months, you can mix and match a ton of great outfits. You can always skip months if your drawers are filling up. My Ellie outfit had a Marika sports bra, Bally leggings and a crop top from Balance. I got rave reviews on both looks on my Instagram stories.
