I tried Fruit Bliss organic, dried fruit in 2014. I saw them at Expo West this year and found out that they’ve added new products including new Fruit & Nut Bites. “Bites” were all the rage at Expo so I wrote to them to see if I could check them out and tell you all about them. They sent me a care package of new bites at their original products to try and share.
The founder of Fruit Bliss was inspired to make healthier snacks when she had a family. She found re-hydrated dried fruit while traveling abroad. They sun-ripen the fruit and then infuse it with water with an innovative steaming process. The result? Soft and juicy, delicious fruit snacks.
Fruit Bliss is very different from typical dried fruits. One thing you’ll notice is that the fruit is a natural dark color. This happens as the fruit oxidizes naturally drying in the sun. Most dried apricots are a bright orange color because they have added sulfur dioxide, a chemical color preserver. All Fruit Bliss products are all USDA organic, vegan, non-GMO and gluten free.
Fruit Bliss dried fruits are organic and come in eight flavors. They are Turkish Figs, French Agen Plums, Apricots, Fruit Medley, Deglet Nour Dates, Peruvian Golden Berries, Turkish Tomato Halves and Tart Cherries.
I’m a huge fan of the Fruit Bliss Apricots and Figs and the Fruit Medley. The Tart Cherries and Tomato Halves were new to me. The sundried tomatoes were delicious as a snack and mixed with my scrambled eggs. They are plump and juicy. The cherries are also great alone, mixed with nuts or in waffles or pancakes. The amazing thing is that all that’s in them is fruit and water (and salt in the tomatoes). These are great for getting in your fruit servings on the go, too! Consider Fruit Bliss for your next camping trip or hike.
The new product line is Fruit Bites. They come in three flavors. They are Apricots + Dates + Hazelnuts, Figs + Dates + Hazelnuts and Tart Cherries + Dates + Hazelnuts + Cacao Nibs. They’re all gluten free, USDA organic certified and vegan. The bites have only these ingredients plus rice flour to hold them together.
Sapna and I tried the Figs + Dates + Hazelnuts on our trip to Mexico. They were the perfect snack to tide us over between breakfast and lunch. They were very light and fresh, but they were filling, too. I’m definitely adding these to my travel snack must have list!
