It’s Friday, so I’m linking up with Fairytales and Fitness for the Friday Five. You may have seen that I was at Expo West last week. If you missed it, here’s a link to my Day 1 recap (with links to prior years) and my Day 2 and Day 3 recaps. There were tons of amazing products. I wish I could’ve had even more time at the Exp. I did notice some trends – some are the same as last year and some are new.
Top Trends from Expo West 2019
1 .“Bite Sized” Healthy Snacks – New this year, everyone is making bite sized snacks. Part of this is to appeal to kids and part is portion control/convenience. Some of my faves were from Perfect Bar (Now Perfect Snacks), Fruit Bliss and Crazy Richard’s Peanut Butter. Next week, Rule Breaker is launching their bite sized Kickstarter!
2. CBD Everything – Check the water labels before you drink it! Like Expo East, everyone is promoting the “chill” with CBD oil. It’s in all kind of digestible forms like honey and even caramels and coffee. It’s also in roll-ons and balms. Have you tried CBD oil? There were a TON of gummies this year. I got some from Sunday Scaries and some from +CBD Oil.
3. Lots of Fat – Keto is still IN. Just like Expo East last year, fat is where it’s at. One of the trends I noticed was coconut and MCT oils for the fat. My friends at Dang Foods are making some coconut keto bars and Ethan’s is launching MCT oil shots. I’m not into Keto, but if you are, you’re in luck, there’s lots of great stuff coming your way.
4. Plant Based Milks and Everything Else, too – There were a ton of plant based milks again. The oat milk trend has really taken off and my friends from Hope & Sesame were debuting their sesame milk. I saw less fruit and veggie milks. The meat alternatives are amazing. You won’t believe some of these things are vegan. The Beyond Meat and Impossible Burger booths were packed – with good reason.
5. Functional Beverages and Foods, too. Everyone was talking about the performance benefits of their drinks and foods. Adaptogens are IN. I loved the new WellWell Pear and Ginger “Wake” water among others.
Top 5 “Hot” Ingredients: Cauliflower, Coconut, Hemp, Pili Nuts and Oat Milk. I love my cauliflower pizza – especially Caulipower. New pili nut yogurt from Lavva and oat milk yogurt from Nancy’s were some of my show faves.

I also got this quarter’s New Hope Blogger Box right before I left. The New Hope Network hosts Natural Products Expo West and Expo East. I have a ton of great products on hand, so I’m going to share some of these samples with a lucky reader.
The box arrived in February. They sent “standout natural products from 17 trusted and innovative brands.”
The products were a mix of brands I know and new-to-me brands. I was excited to see faves like La Croix, Jessica’s and Evo Hemp. There was also a bunch of (on trend) CBD products including gummies from PlusCBD Oil, Myriad Wellness CBD Muscle and Tension Stick and Tree Below Zero Sparkling Juice with CBD.
I kept and shared some products, but have a bunch to share. I’m going to send one lucky reader the Nature’s Answer Sambucus + Probiotics ($39.95), three Mighty Sesame Co. TahiniBARs, Myriad Wellness CBD Muscle & Tension Stick ($25), Prep U Natural Deodorant for Men ($15), an Evo Hemp Bar and a good Snacks Protein Bar, Serenity Tea Sips Simple Pleasures Tea ($15), Jessica’s GF Granola, a small Manuka Honey from Manuka Honey NZ and some Bellucci’s Organic Olive Oil Squeeze Packs.
