It’s Friday, so I’m linking up with Fairytales and Fitness for the Friday Five. Sunday, February 17 is Random Acts of Kindness Day. It used to be a week but they RAK Foundation says that many people started celebrating RAK Day so they moved to that. I say celebrate all week or all the time. Kindness is good for you! See the science.
5 Ways to Celebrate Random Acts of Kindness Day
1. Head over to The Random Acts of Kindness Foundation and check out their suggestions. There are some great ideas and images to share here.
2. Give positive feedback and compliments. Like a blog post or social media post, leave a nice comment. Tell someone from work that they’re doing a good job. Leave a positive review for a restaurant or business you love on Yelp. Compliment a neighbor or a stranger on something you like. Spread the love!
3. Give the gift (card) of kindness – Buy one or several gift cards for Dunkin Donuts or Starbucks (or any convenient) place and give them to people in need. Another idea, if you live in a cold climate, you could buy and hand out some hats and gloves. In any climate, you could give out socks. I did the Dunkin cards before the holidays on a cold day and the recipients were so grateful.
4. Write and mail some handwritten thank you notes or make some calls. Thank the recipient and tell them what they mean to you. Thank people who help you at work or in your daily travels, too.
5. Support a cause or help someone in need. I’m going to go to a fundraiser yoga class on Sunday and I’m planning one for 3/3 to support my NYC Half Run with Alexandra’s Playground. Free on 3/3? Here’s the link for my class and raffle. Not free but want to support my run? Here’s the link on Crowdrise. (Every $5 buys a raffle ticket!)
