Tried It Tuesday: My Magic Mud Activated Charcoal Toothpaste

Activated charcoal has been big at the last few Natural Products Expos. During award season, nominees got My Magic Mud Activated Charcoal Toothpaste in their gift bags. Their team reached out to me to see if I wanted to give it a try. I’ve been really curious, so I said “yes.”

The founder of My Magic Mud began experimenting with natural tooth care for her daughter who was susceptible to cavities and sensitivity. She tried a variety of combinations before landing on activated charcoal, coconut oil and Bentonite clay with organic oils. Her daughter’s dental health improved and soon she was making the remedy for friends and family. Now it’s an “international best seller.”

My Magic Mud is Fluoride and SLS free, gluten free, non-GMO and vegan. They’ve done studies to show the whitening and dental health of the toothpaste.

The toothpaste comes in four flavors. They are Wintergreen, Peppermint, Spearmint and Cinnamon. The tooth powder also comes in four flavors. They are Original, Peppermint, Spearmint and Cinnamon.

They sent me the Peppermint toothpaste to try. I’ll admit, I was worried about staining my teeth or sink (or both!) I decided to take it with me on the road.  The package helps with instructions. They recommend a generous amount, brushing for two minutes and spitting close to the drain. Then, you rinse your brush, teeth, tongue and gums.

I decided to try it at a hotel – just in case! I won’t tell you which one – lol. I brushed with a little more than in the picture as instructed. The taste is pleasant and the texture is nice.

I’ll admit I was a bit scared at what my mouth and teeth looked like. I had faith. I spit close to the drain, rinsed the brush and my mouth and then brushed with my cleaned toothbrush. Voila! Clean teeth and a fresh mouth.

Sink and brush were clean, too! (Bristles are natural color.)

Want to try it yourself? You can get My Magic Mud at Sprouts, Walmart, CVS and a number of online retailers for $9.99. You can also get it on Amazon (Prime Eligible). You can follow My Magic Mud on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter, too.
