I’m not going to lie, sometimes my running clothes really stink. When the folks from HEX Performance asked if I wanted to try their new detergent “inspired by activewear,” I say “YES! Send it over right away.”
Coincidentally, my friend, Liz, who’s a mad scientist sent me a rave review. She said, “You know how I am with my magical detergent concoctions for running gear. My current obsession is HEX. I love the light green apple scent and it really does the trick on my clothes. Now, I still add some oxi-clean and a few cups of white vinegar to the load, soak for an hour, then wash, but it does a much better job than regular detergent for a not horrible price.”
HEX was founded by a professional lacrosse player. His team realized that traditional detergents are not formulated for today’s activewear. 60% of athletic wear is now synthetic. They started with synthetics in mind. HEX delivers a powerful clean while remaining green. It’s eco-friendly, kind to your skin and biodegradable.
HEX eliminates odor caused by bacteria, mildew and sweat from all fabrics. It’s made for hard to clean synthetics but can be used on traditional fabrics, too. They say, “Other detergents use strong fragrances that linger because they can’t clean the real problem: stink. Those harsh scents hide the odor still in the fabric. HEX has nothing to hide (with testing to prove it). All HEX detergents actually eliminate stink. But who doesn’t love the smell of fresh laundry? HEX scented detergents are designed to also leave behind a light fragrance that doesn’t linger.”
The folks from HEX sent me their Spring Bundle to try. It contains detergent, stain fighter and “On Demand Spray & Go.” The detergent comes in single dose pods and a liquid. It comes in a fragrance free version and a “Fresh Clean” scent. They sent me the Free & Clear version.
I tried the single dose detergent first. As usual, I mixed my running gear with our regular dark wash. The wash came out out as usual and it had a very, very light clean fragrance. The formula is expected to prevent future odors, too. Everything turned out well and I’ll let you know about that promise.
I tried the stain fighter on a coffee stain on a light sweater that I love. The stain came out and the sweater looks great. It’s also very light and not goopy like some other spray stain removers. I didn’t worry about the color running from the sweater. I’m especially excited about the stain fighter as The Husband and I can often be messy!
I haven’t tried the Spray & Go yet. We have A LOT of shoes and gear that can use it. It deodorizes and protects fabric, shoes and gear. They say that you just let it dry and you’re all set. I’m excited to use it on my running shoes, yoga mat and much more.
