If you’ve been around here, you know I love Picky Bars and a good Kickstarter. Worlds collided when my friends from Picky Bar launched a Kickstarter for their new Picky Oats – Performance Oatmeal.
If you’re not familiar with Picky Bars, you should be! They were “created by runners for runners.” Lauren Fleshman and Stephanie Rothstein, who has Celiac Disease, wanted a great, gluten free energy bar for their training. These bars are great for you and taste amazing. [Since the first time I shared Picky Bars in 2013, I met Lauren Fleshman (post) and then Stephanie Rothstein at the SLO Half (post) I am even more impressed with them and Picky Bar, now!]
The folks at Picky decided to expand into “performance” oatmeal. They say it’s “a breakfast built and balanced for high performers.” Picky Oats “keep you full without weighing you down.” All three flavors feature superfood ingredients and 10 grams of all natural protein. The flavors were formulated with the help of Elyse Kopecky, chef of the best selling cookbook Run Fast. Eat Slow.
Picky Oats are USDA Organic, gluten free and vegan. They have 10g of natural protein and 40% less sugar that conventional instant oatmeal. More than 1/2 the package is toppings so there is a ton of flavor. These are not your ordinary oats.
There are three flavors. They are “How ‘Bout Dem Apples?” (Apple Cinnamon, Chia Seeds & Ginger), “Game Set Matcha” (Matcha, Goji Berries, Pepitas & Cardomom) and “Can’t Beet Chocolate” (Beet, Cacao, Chia Seeds & Almond). They can be heated or served cold as overnight oats.
They’re all tasty and filling. My fave is “Can’t Beet Chocolate.” Amanda’s is “How ‘Bout Dem Apples.” The matcha mixes in tea for extra energy.
I got a bunch of Picky Oats and swag from supporting the Kickstarter. I’m sharing some with one lucky reader. I’ll send one winner two packets of each flavor, a Picky trucker cap and water bottle. Please use the Rafflecopter below. The contest runs through 2/8. A winner will be selected and notified on 2/9. Winner must be 18 years of age or older, a US resident (or have a US postal intermediary) and it is void where prohibited.
In the mean time, you can get Picky Oats online or on The Feed. You can keep up with Picky Bar on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram.
