If you’ve been around here, you know I love my Run Gum. I love it so much that I’m a brand ambassador. I found Run Gum in 2015 before the NYC Marathon. [Review] I’ve been using it ever since. I don’t drink coffee in the morning before I run or exercise, so I use Run Gum for my caffeine fix on long runs and in races.
Run Gum was developed by Olympian Nick Symmonds who also studied Biochemistry. As he was competing, he was always looking for a legal way to get an edge on the competition. He and his coach experimented with non-banned performance enhancing stimulants. Pulling from Nick’s biochemistry background and experience, they “knew about chemicals that the human body needed to perform optimally.” They focused on caffeine. They liked the impact but not all of the extra liquid from coffee or energy drinks.
Each piece of Run Gum has 50mg of caffeine, 20 mg of taurine and B vitamins. They say that the gum has five times faster caffeine absorption and gives you a “full tank” on an empty stomach. It is also easy to carry with you and to chew. They suggest one piece before the run and one after or two pieces at once for “extra kick.” I generally go with 2 pieces before races and at the half way mark in marathons, too.
Now that the season is over, I have a surplus of Run Gum. I’m going to send 5 packs of Run Gum to 4 lucky winners. Want to enter to win? Please use the Rafflecopter below to enter. The contest runs through November 20. Winners will be selected and notified on November 21. Winners must be US residents, 18 years of age or older and the offer is void where prohibited.
In the mean time, you can get Run Gum online and on Amazon. You can keep up with Run Gum on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram. They also have a cool company culture and mission. Read How We Run to learn more.
